Conservative Thoughts

My Response to a Friend's Email

I share the same concerns about our great country and in my humble opinion, we, as a nation are at a crossroads. It has taken us over a hundred years to get here, but we're here nonetheless. I'll say one thing for Obama...he didn't lie during his campaign when he said on election night that he would literally "transform this nation"! Although many of us had no doubts that he would attempt to carry out his plans, none of us thought it would happen this quickly or be this thorough! From his dire predictions that if we "did not pass the Stimulus Bill, our nation's economy would be destroyed"; the bailouts, to the Health Care Bill, everything Obama has done has one purpose and one purpose only-to create a Progressive/Liberal/Democratic power base that if successful, will never again be challenged by any political party or group. It would be the end of the United States of America as we know it now!

Obama and the Democratic Party envision an America where only "politically correct" thoughts and actions and the Liberal agenda are the true law of the land. To them, our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, our Declaration of Independence and our proud history, are nothing more than inconveniences. If Obama and the Democrats are successful, they will appoint judges in our Federal Courts and by subtle, yet direct pressure, in our State courts, that would espouse the liberal agenda and either dilute or destroy our Constitution. If they are successful with "Cap and Trade" and the "V.A.T." tax, they will effectively enslave us all economically.

And then there is "Immigration Reform"! If they ram this through, this would give the Democrats 20 to 30 Million "Democrats-for-life" and it would be next to impossible for the G.O.P. or any other political party to overcome. Although the Health Care Bill defeat was a devastating blow to the Conservative Cause, if they pass "Immigration Reform" it will make the passing of the Health Care Bill seem like child's play! To me and millions of others, this is the battle that we cannot lose! Everything all of us in the Tea Party Movement did to prevent Health Care from passing is nothing compared to what we must do to stop Immigration Reform from passing! This is why the November elections are the most important elections of the last 100 years! If we don't stop the Democrats now, I fear we'll never stop them again.

OK, there's my thoughts. Now to answer your questions.

1. "Can these things be undone"? Yes! We have the power of our votes! If we elect true Conservatives to Congress and if we regain solid majorities in both the House and the Senate this year, everything Obama has done to this point can be reversed! However, we have to involve ourselves in the political process and I don't mean by just voting. We have to work with and support those candidates that we believe in, and we have to work hard! That means we call our chosen candidates Campaign offices and find out what we can do, and then do it! We have to talk to our neighbors, our family and our friends and ask them to vote for Conservative candidates. When you're engaged in a political conversation, be ready with facts and reasons why they should vote for Conservative candidates. If they're an Obama supporter, don't waste your time trying to convince them. Just walk away and move on.

2. "Can we trust the Republicans to get back to a constitutional government"? I believe we can! Here in Pennsylvania, every Republican candidate I've talked to, from Mike Fitzpatrick, Jim Jones, Ira Hoffman, Pat Toomey, Sam Rohrer and others have all said that they will work to restore our Constitutionally Limited Government and they promise to be "fiscally conservative". Every Republican candidate in this country is looking for support from the Tea Party movement and we are making them jump through the hoops to get it. If they don't "measure up", then we'll support some other Republican who will.

Good examples of the strength of the Tea Party Movement are Scott Brown and Marco Rubio. In Scot's case, hundreds of Tea Party people went up to Massachusetts and worked to get him elected and it's put the fear of God into the Democrats. In Marco's case, just ask Charlie Crist what he thinks about the Tea Parties! Another thing about these elections-every candidate,be they Democrat, Republican or Independent, knows that Tea Party people will hold them accountable! Speaking only for myself, I don't trust and will never again support ANY Democrat! This notion that there are "Blue Dog" Conservative Democrats is nothing but a myth created by the Democratic National Committee and the Obama Administration operatives. They simply don't exist.

3. The "V.A.T. and the U.S.A." Yes we must pay our debts, but this is not the way to do it. The "VAT" taxes everything at every step of the production or implementation process, all the way to us, the consumer. The VAT is the most evil of all taxes because it not only kills the incentive to be productive and creative, it also kills the economy by making products and services too expensive to buy! The VAT is what's in place in Europe, and the European economy has been "in the tank" for years. Many people think that the "VAT" would replace our hated income tax. No it would not! It would be in addition to the income tax! Trouble is, if this passes, the middle class will be totally destroyed. The only one's that would be paying any taxes would be the rich, and the Government would decide who the "rich" are!

As for term limits, I'm all for them if they're done right. I favor two terms in the U.S. Senate and 6 terms in the House. The problem is that this would take a Constitutional amendment, which requires a 2/3rds vote in the Senate and ratification by the States; or failing a positive vote in the Senate, then it would take 75% of the States to ratify it. The odds of passage? None, zip, zero and nada! As for the Supreme Court, here again, we need a Constitutional amendment and it would never pass, at least not in our lifetimes.

I hope I've answered your questions. These same questions are on the minds of just about every thoughtful American at the moment. Tens of millions of us are extremely worried about the future of this country, and thankfully, millions of us are coming to her defense. Whether we're successful or not really depends on the commitment and dedication to our values, our principles and our way of life, by each one of us. The Tea Parties have shown us that we can make a difference, but we have to have the "staying power", the courage and most of all, the determination to follow through. I think we can do it, because if we don't, I don't want to even think about what living in this country would be like!
