What a nice, warm day for a tea-party protest!  About 300 voices along with signs, lined the pavement in front of the Arch at Arcadia University in Glenside.  We arrived around 8:15 am, a few people were gathering along with news channels.  Then the crowd really started to assemble around 9 AM.  It was great to meet a few Arcadia students who were conservatives in a very, liberal college. The ½ hr. news conference that was organized by the Independence Hall Tea Party Assn. got off to a loud start when the local police tried to get them to move to a safer location.  However, the crowd that was gathered from the various tea-party groups did not let them move us. The news channels had microphones throughout the crowd, their cameras were rolling and the Philadelphia Inquirer also had a news reporter.  It was great to hear the honking horns from the vehicles passing by us. Police cars blocked the roads, soon the crowd was moving up the hill towards Rt. 309….road was barricaded….Secret Service and police lined the overpass….police helicopter made continuous passes overhead……about 10:30 or so, as I peered through the crowd, I could see a 30 plus motorcade speeding by up ahead of the assembled group.  We chanted, signs were waving, sun was shining……….and in a blink, the motorcade was gone and slowly the crowd disbursed.  It was interesting to note that about a handful of Obama supporters were across the street.  The tea party groups certainly made a loud and clear statement.  I hope he heard us!!
